Students from all subject areas can participate in the ERASMUS
scheme, from art to zoology, biology to psychology – however, please
check with your home institution as not all offer ERASMUS with all subjects. If
you are still at school and havenŐt yet decided on your Higher Education
Institution (HEI) and course, itŐs very important that you do your homework,
first to ensure that you donŐt miss out on ERASMUS once you get to your HEI
– so check with your chosen UK Institution first before enrolling.
You can take part in ERASMUS study mobility at any time during your
degree, except during the first year. When you go will depend on the structure
of your degree and the arrangements your university has with its partners.
You can go for just three months, or stay the whole year. In general
though, the longer the study period the better. It enables you to adjust fully
to life in another country, to get to know the staff and students and the area
or region in which you are living, and of course develop your language skills.
Being an Erasmus student is an experience that will
stay with you for life. As well as improving your language skills and your CV,
your Erasmus experience will really help you to stand out in the job market,
not to mention give you a great network of friends and some fantastic travel
opportunities.
