The UKESC was set up in the Summer of 2001 when the former Agency for the ERASMUS programme, the UK Socrates-Erasmus Council, considered it necessary to establish a ‘student voice’ to provide feedback direct from the beneficiaries of the scheme and to aid with the future promotion of the Erasmus programme. Our Committee now consists of some 20 members, all of whom have returned from Erasmus years with incredible memories, experiences and stories which they want to share with other students across the country. Our members are a broad representation of the 7,000 students that leave the UK each year to explore other European Universities under ERASMUS; we are aged between 20 and 30 and are students of all backgrounds and nationalities.
